Remote AUV Field Test Campaign of prototype # 4 - Summer 2026: (click on Autonomous Underwater Vehicle tab)

During this summer 2026 campaign, we are conducting multiple controlled pool dives to confirm stable system integration, PID response, and sensor functionality. Additionally, we are performing open-water validation in Long Island Sound at depths of 10 to 12 feet, ensuring full subsystem operation, including control, logging, video, and depth, under real-world hydrodynamic conditions. 

Prototype # 4: ( Patent Pending )

A port and starboard thruster now provide horizontal maneuvering capability and improved heading control. The system upgrade had incorporated an underwater ultrasonic obstacle avoidance sensor to enhance navigation safety and environmental awareness. Prototype # 4 has an Adafruit 9-DOF absolute orientation IMU to obtain absolute heading.  Ongoing software updates include the development and integration of horizontal control algorithms and real-time obstacle avoidance logic to support fully autonomous operation.  Please view the video below describing the new features of Project X+ Prototype # 4.
