Remote AUV Field Test Campaign of prototype # 4 - Summer 2026: (click on Autonomous Underwater Vehicle tab)
Despite an aggressive testing schedule, the majority of the 2026 test objectives were successfully achieved. The integration of the horizontal propulsion system, heading control, data logging, video, depth monitoring, and autonomous box maneuver represented a significant advancement for Project X+.
Due to time limitations, we were unable to complete the integration of the underwater ultrasonic ranging sensor into the autonomous control system during the 2026 campaign. As a result, autonomous bottom following remains the next major development objective. Project X+ Prototype # 5, scheduled for the Summer 2027 testing campaign, will be dedicated in large part to integrating the underwater ultrasonic ranging system with the AUV's vertical propulsion and control algorithms. The goal is to enable Project X+ to autonomously maintain a predetermined distance above the bottom while performing its box maneuver, providing the next major step toward fully autonomous underwater navigation.
